This is my third part of blog for saving money on Crazy Higher Gas Prices. In this first blog you get the idea of saving many cents per liter depends what mode you use.
Here are some easy to use tips to save more money on gas. Saving starts with common sense
1. Park in the Shade
Recent research shows that during hot months, try to park your vehicle in a shady parking spot in order to decrease the amount of fuel lost to evaporation and use less air-conditioning when you get back in. "Gasoline evaporates rapidly, and even escapes from closed tanks. The process is sped up by high temperatures. Keeping your vehicle cooler means you'll run your air conditioner less, resulting in a substantial savings in fuel. You'll be less likely to damage car contents from extreme heat, meaning you'll have fewer items to replace."
2.Turn off the car when not driving
You get 0 kilometres per litre when idling and you're using up costly gas. Idling for longer than 10 seconds burns more gas than restarting the engine; idle for more than 10 minutes a day and you'll use about five per cent more fuel every year.
3.Slow down
Most major highways have a posted limit of 100 km/h. If you have a lead foot and cruise around 120 km/h, you're increasing your vehicle's fuel consumption by about 20 per cent.
4. Keep less Junk in your Car
Minimize the stuff you keep in your car.Too often cars become a storage room. While it's convenient, it's estimated that for every additional 100 pounds in your vehicle you are reducing the mileage you get per tank by 1-2 per cent.
5. Relax and enjoy the drive
Drivers with aggressive driving tendencies (like speeding, rapid acceleration and hard braking), increase their fuel consumption by about 25 per cent.
6.Fill-up gas in late evening
Survey has found that when late evening between is the best time to fillup. Usually day time gas prices are very high
