Summer blockbusters movies of 2013
Before wasting your time and money my blog readers can have early look into the best summer Movies. When we go to some movies without preview, sometimes we feel why I came to see to see this junk movie. What’s hitting the box office in the next few months? Here are some movies you need to check out!
This summer will offer big superhero flicks like Iron Man 3 and the Superman reboot Man of Steel; exciting sequels like Fast & Furious 6, and Star Trek Into Darkness; anticipated comedies like The Hangover 3 and This Is the End - and potential blockbuster counter-programming selections like the buzzed-about horror flick The Conjuring (horror) or the 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
Iron Man 3 – Release-May 3rd
Robert Downey Jr. is back for this latest Marvel installment, which has Tony Stark/Iron Man facing off against a villain known as the Mandarin.Given the impressive trailers and non-stop promotional items Marvel has unveiled recently, we’d totally expect their summer tentpole to be at the top of this list.
The Great Gatsby - Release-May 10
Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton
Baz Luhrmann brings F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel to the big screen in this 3-D adaptation starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan.A star-studded cast will bring F. Scott Fitzgerald’s great American novel to the big screen in 3-D with a soundtrack that includes Jay-Z and Lana Del Rey. This would sound preposterous if writer-director Baz Luhrmann (“Moulin Rouge,” “Romeo + Juliet”) hadn’t helmed the fireworks display of a movie.
Who knew that an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel that has put so many high schoolers to sleep would become one of the top 3 most anticipated films of summer? We sure didn’t. Then again, an all-star cast (Leo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton), a celebrated director (Baz Luhrmann of Moulin Rouge fame) and a soundtrack masterminded by pop icon Jay-Z - featuring new music from pop stars like Beyoncé and Florence + Machine - all helps to explain why the general public has taken notice.
Star Trek into Darkness-Release date: May 17
Capt. Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the crew of the Enterprise face a villain with ties to Starfleet ("Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch) in this J.J. Abrams-directed sequel.
Fast & Furious 6-Release date: May 24
Dom Teretto (Vin Diesel) and former FBI agent Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) agree to help Luke Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) hunt down a rival gang led by Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) and his second-in-command, Dom's presumed-dead former girlfriend Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez).
The Hangover Part III-Release date: May 24
The Wolfpack reunites for a third and final time, with another misadventure that ends -- naturally -- in Las Vegas. Starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong and Melissa McCarthy
After Earth-Release date: May 31
Will Smith and Jaden Smith star as a father and son stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape. Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan
Man of Steel – Release-June 14
Zack Snyder ("300") directs this latest take on the superhero's origin story, with Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and a supporting cast that includes Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Michael Shannon.
Despite early word that the Superman reboot combines the best elements of Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy storytelling style and director Zack Snyder’s impressive visual action, this poll clearly shows that Man of Steel‘s limited marketing and promotion campaign has not yet put the film on the radar of enough moviegoers. Expect that marketing blitz to kick into high-gear once Iron Man 3 is out of the way.
World War Z-Release date: June 21
Brad Pitt stars as a United Nations employee trying to find a way to stop a zombie pandemic taking over the globe. Based on the novel of the same name by Max Brooks.
Monsters University-Release date: June 21
It's back to school for Sully (John Goodman) and Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) in this prequel about the monster pals' college days. The film's voice cast also includes Steve Buscemi, Aubrey Plaza, John Krasinski and Helen Mirren. Pixar may have to soon start rethinking its recent strategy of cranking out franchise sequels, as we don’t think anyone ever anticipated seeing an Illumination Entertainment animated film like Despicable Me 2 rated over a Pixar summer offering. Then again, today’s kids are too young to really remember (or hold love for) a Sulley and Mike theatrical experience – so Monsters University could be a successful re-introduction. Meanwhile, Gru and his minions clearly have a strong presence in the movie world.
