Save money and time with At-Home Spa tricks

Print New At-Home Spa tricks

This is my new blog on saving money and time to use at-home spa tricks.

An at-home spa day is easy on the wallet and lets you multitask. The best part is all you need are a few hours to yourself and full reign of the bathroom to emerge hours later looking fresh and fabulous. Here are many ways to pamper myself in the comfort of my own home.

1. Turn your shower into a sauna

Just turn your shower on and run it at its hottest temperature for about 20 minutes. While the water is running and the steam is building, take a warm washcloth and spray with your favorite relaxing oil. (Lavender, vanilla or rosemary are all great de-stressing aromas.) When you step into your shower, put the washcloth up to your face and take a deep breath of your soothing, oil-scented steam. It’s a great way to unwind right before bed—and it also helps clear up sinuses

2. Body Scrub

Want to create a super-smooth palette for a self-tanner application? Soak in a bath for a few minutes, and then use some an exfoliating body wash before shaving for sleek gams. Apply body lotion while the skin is still damp for long-lasting gleaming skin.

3. Deep-Conditioning Treatment

After cleansing your hair with shampoo, squeeze out the excess water and apply a hydrating mask like Pantene Intensive Restoration Treatment. Put a plastic shower cap on over it and step out of the shower, towel off and go about your business for at least half an hour. Then, step back in, rinse out the mask and either air-dry or style, remarking to yourself about how manically marvellous your mane looks.

4. Make Your Own Manicure

It takes practice, but anyone can perfect a manicure when it’s a simple process: just two coats of Nail Gloss, no base or top coat required. To clean up around the edges, use a lip brush dipped in nail polish remover for a professional finish. (You’ll designate the lip brush for this purpose from now on — make sure not to use it on your lips after it’s been dipped in remover.)

5. Pedicure Perfection

Dissolve a half-cup of Epsom salt into 2 litres (2 quarts) of warm water. Pour the water into a container and soak your bare feet for 15 to 20 minutes. For an extra treat, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil for a refreshing scent. Massage the entire foot with Olay Daily Exfoliating Body Wash concentrating on the heels and ankles to remove any dry, rough spots. Then, rinse your feet off with clean tap water and dry them thoroughly.

6. Fabulous At-home Facial

For a stunningly smooth surface, wash your face and then scrub with a bit of Olay Blackhead Clearing Scrub. Fill the sink with hot water and drop in a eucalyptus leaf or two or an essential oil drop for a spa-like experience.

7. Homemade hydrating facial mask

When it’s really cold outside and my skin gets a bit chafed, you can go home and head straight for the kitchen and dust off your blender. You can make hydrating facial mask by blending a little cold cream, yogurt, honey, aloe Vera gel and avocado. Using a foundation brush to paint it on my face, I let the mask dry for about 15 to 20 minutes and rinse. Voila! your skin will feels refresh and moisturized.

I will add more ideas in my next blog

Please add if you know your own
